SERENITY CORNER
WELCOME TO MY HOME!!
r> 5May 1999

I'm 34 years old, from Pennsylvania, USA.

I am a single mom of 2 wonderful little guys. They are 7 & 8 years old and the light of my life.
I am counselor and advocate for victims of violent crimes with a speciality in Domestic Violence and sexual assault.
I am also a survivor and if you are reading this and need to talk, I'm only a click away. I am willing to listen to anybody who just needs to vent. (everything you tell me will be held in the strictest confidence.
By the Grace of God and a 12 step group, I have been clean and sober since 10-31-85.
My first drink was at the age of 9 and my last drink (hopefully) was at the age of 20. I hit my bottom fairly quickly. I had been in trouble with the law on numerous occasions and if it weren't for my family, I would have not had a friend left in the world!
I have had many loved ones pass on from this disease called alcoholism (and drug addiction).
I married an alcoholic and am now happily and joyously divorced.
He still dabbles with alcoholic and is prayed for daily. I hope and pray for my kids sake that he gets and stays sober.
I have had many benefits from staying sober and clean. Number one being that my kids have never seen their mom drunk or high. They go to meetings with me all the time and know where the help is if they need it later on down the road.

Come visit awhile!!
The second most important benefit I've had from staying clean and sober are the friends I have today. My friends loved me when I was incapable of loving myself. My friends love me when I'm being unlovable. They love me in spite of myself too!
Of course I wouldn't have any of this today if it weren't for God.

willing to believe

Do not let any prejudice you may have against spiritual terms deter you from honestly asking yourself what they mean to you. At the start, this was all we needed to commence spiritual growth, to effect our first conscious relation with God as we understood him. Afterward, we found ourselves accepting many things which seemed entirely out of reach. That was growth. But if we wished to grow we had to begin somewhere. So at first we used our own conceptions of God, however limited they were.
We needed to ask ourselves but one short question: "Do I now believe, or am I willing to believe, that there is a Power greater then myself?" As soon as a man can say that he does believe, even in this small degree, or is willing to believe, we emphatically assure him that he is on his way.
Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 47

There is POWER in God's word for me today. Does he have power in your life today?
GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.
